Boston Marathon Prep Route (13 Miles)

(Run)

This rolling route is one of my favorite running spots within 25 miles of Wichita. The scenery is really nice and each mile brings a new challenge. I ran on this course every week during the years I ran the Boston Marathon. I would recommend this route for anyone preparing for a hilly race.

Elite Training Solutions Gravel Camp Loop #1 (43.5 Miles)

(Flint Hills) (Beaumont) (Ride)

The scenery is amazing and the course plenty challenging. If it has rained recently, beware of miles 20-32. They're minimum maintenance and could be really muddy. It’s best to ride this route when it’s dry.

Mt. Evans Century (96.3 Miles)

(Colorado) (Pavement) (Ride)

If you want a serious one-day challenge, this is it. One of the best rides i’ve ever done, this ride takes you up to the top of 14,271 ft. summit of Mt. Evans and back down. You will climb through 3 life zones, passing ancient trees, lakes and forest to the rocky summit. Start this ride early enough that you can descend back into the forest before noon to minimize the risk of getting caught in a storm above tree line. There is shelter on top of the mountain and in a couple places on the way down if needed. You can also get water at these locations as well. After a non stop ascent, you’ll be rewarded with a 50 mile downhill ride (with a few short climbs). This ride finishes with a sweeping switchback descent into Golden, one of the coolest roads i’ve ever ridden. You’ll remember this ride the rest of your life!
